Event Announcements
Meet & Eat:
April 9th, 630PM - D'Lish Hamburger's on
Division
We will all be gathering again at the
D'Lish on Division to scarf down some
delicious food and chat all things cars and
racing. I hate even having to say this
but if you plan on attending our events,
please respect the laws of the road.
Burnouts and driving like an idiot is just
something we will not tolerate at our
events. That said, I hope to see
everyone out!

5erWest: June 5th,
10AM - Gladstone, Oregon
What are you doing on June 5th?
nwBMWclub is proud to announce our FIRST
ANNUAL 5erWest event being held in
Gladstone, Oregon. 5erWest is an event
celebrating the early lineage of the BMW 5
Series (think E30 Picnic but for the 5
Series). All BMW models are welcome
and we encourage everyone who can attend to
do so but the focus of the show will be on
the early 5 Series: e34, e28, e12,
etc. For full details and registration
please head over to our newly created site:
www.5erwest.com.
Update: We're
happy to announce that 60 cars have already
registered! We have also made a flyer
for this event. Please feel free to
print it out and post it at relevant places.
We are currently working on adding a couple
more sponsors. If you or know of
anyone who is interested in sponsoring,
please contact the event coordinator at
5erwest@nwbmwclub.com.

Starting tomorrow (March 16th):To reserve
your room, call the number above, and simply
state that you are picking up one of the
'5erWest BMW' rooms.
Rooms must be reserved by May
5th. If you don't make the May
5th deadline, the rate will be the same, but
you will be subject to availability.
There is a block of 16 rooms available. 12
double queen rooms for 2 adults...and 4
single queen rooms for 1 adult. The rooms
are $85.99 per night PLUS lodging tax. Split
between two, it ends up being pretty cheap
for a very nice stay.
With the rooms, you get $4 towards breakfast
in the attached restaurant. (Very good food
by the way. Good steak and AWESOME
fish.) We are currently working on other
discounts and help from food vendors in the
area.
The hotel is about 1 mile from the event.
There are auto parts shops nearby (hope no
one needs them) as well as food and coffee.
We are also currently looking for a place
everyone can get to that can be used to
clean up and detail the beauties. I will
update when more info is found.
For anyone not wanting to spend that much,
there is also an Econo-Lodge right up the
street. The nightly rate there is $55
or so. It's about 2 miles from the event.

Scott Norton & Team
Completed the 6 Hours of Pacific Raceways
It was an incredible weekend for Scott
Norton and his team of racers finishing 2nd
in class and 7th overall at the 6 Hours of
Pacific Raceways Endurance Race. The
day started off ugly with rain and wind but
quickly dried and warmed up by the start of
the race. Eric started the race and by
the time Steve, and Mike had finished their
stints, they were in 2nd place in their
class.
The weather was quickly
getting ugly and Scott (the unlucky one) was
going to finish off the race. James
Temple the Crew Chief decided it was time to
bring in Mike and do a full pit stop with
rain tires, fuel and a driver change.
The team came together and did their jobs
and got Scott in the car and on his way at
an unbelievable pace.
The monsoon weather-like
condition's worsened and Scott had a braking
problem going into turn 3 which caused him
to go up the embankment. Luck was on
his side and he was able to get moving
immediately and only lost his lip spoiler at
this point. 2 laps later, he was black
flagged and forced to pit to check out the
damage to his bumper. The team quickly
ripped the bumper off and attached pieces
and sent him on his way - bumper-less.
Shortly after, the race was called due to
standing water and Scott came in to the pits
to a standing ovation from the crew members.
The 325is had completed 5 hours and 40
minutes of abuse.
Congratulation to Scott and
everyone who contributed to a podium finish!
It was a weekend I won't soon forget!

Evolution School
Registration: June 5th
For those of you not attending 5erWest I
highly recommend signing up for the
Evolution Driving School. The cost is
$225 (cheapest you will ever see for this
type of school) and will have the option of
Phase 2 (if you have taken Phase 1) or Phase
1 if you have never done any of their
schools. I cannot stress enough how
important this school was for me personally
last year. My driving improved so much
that I was knocking SECONDS off of my runs.
This school is suitable for complete
novice's and hardened season veterans.
As a side note, those of you
attending this event will also receive the
next race day (Sunday the 6th) completely
free.

ASNW Sponsorship
nwBMWclub is once again the Title
Sponsor for the 2010 Auto Cross Race season
and I cannot THANK our club members enough
who donated money to make this happen.
We raised over $500 towards the purchase of
a Portable Barcode Scanner which will be
used for timing this season making events
run much smoother which means more runs for
everyone and less time in out the weather!
Thank you everyone!
