1991 325i Dinan E30 Turbo 6 Cylinder M20 5Spd
This is a very rare opportunity to own a truly rare and classic BMW. Between the years of 1988 and 1991, Dinan of California made custom one-off Turbo Kits for the BMW E30 3-series car. Only a handful of these kits ever made it to the streets. According to a rep. at Dinan, they have only seen 3 of these cars in the last 8 years. I personally have only seen or heard of two others (One in Seattle and one in Phoenix). The kit cost was nearly $40,000 at the time featuring parts pieced together from only BMWs. Dinan rated the kit at 290bhp and 300ft-lbs on 11psi. I had no problems beating E36 M3s and E46 M3s in a straight line.
I was lucky enough to be a part of rebuilding this car back in 2004/2005 after its headgasket had blown. My friend/master mechanic rebuilt this car which included a new headgasket, port and polish some bottom end replacement parts. The transmission was rebuilt along with a rebuilt 2.93 LSD. The turbo was sent out and rebuilt. New clutch and resurfaced flywheel. Total miles on these parts were under 30k. The car ran flawlessly. I added an E36 Dinan Exhaust system during my ownership. The car also had a recent tune up including plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter and more. Also recently added was a LC-1 Wideband + Gauge.
The car also featured basically brand new slotted rotors and Hawk HPS Racing pads and SS lines. It has Dinan Stage I suspension including Sway bars.
Now, all this sounds great right? Well it was, until I overcorrected on a Seattle freeway and smacked the front end on a wall. So what I am selling is the whole car as it is. The body is more then likely twisted and would not be repairable as it is a unibody. However, the engine, transmission and rear end are still in working order. What I was going to do with this car was swap out the engine, transmission and rear end into another E30 body but time and money has forced me to sell. The only parts that are needed/damaged during the accident was the Side Mount Intercooler and a recently added PWR All Aluminum radiator. I still have the OEM radiator that was on this car which was fine when pulled that I will of course include. I found the exact same SMIC for under $150 as a replacement. The oil cooler may or might not be damaged, but a part like that is easily obtainable at a low cost on ebay and other online markets as there are a vast majority of them out there.
The interior is complete and in great condition with no cracks at all on the dash which is a rare thing to find on an E30. The back side and doors on the car are still in great condition and have no issues as a result of the accident.
The chassis shows 160k on the clock but I would not be buying this car for the chassis; I'd be buying for the engine.
My asking price, which is pretty firm is $4500 but willing to hear reasonable offers. This is a fraction of the cost that went into this car. If you were to part out the whole car, I estimated one could easily get in the $5000-6000 range but I'd really rather not see the car parted out. This beautifully designed engine and turbo kit should be in a another car screaming along the twisties. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 509-220-5232 or e-mail me at jamesrhaile@comcast.net. The car is located in Otis Orchards, Washington. Title in hand and available.
At this point I am NOT parting out anything individually so DO NOT ASK!
